If a bystander can recognize a stroke<\/p>\n

by asking three simple questions:
\nS *Ask the individual to SMILE.
\nT *Ask the person to TALK and<\/p>\n

SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE<\/p>\n

(Coherently)(i.e. Is it sunny out.)
\nR *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH<\/p>\n

ARMS.\u00a0\u00a0 If he or she has trouble with ANY <\/span><\/p>\n

ONE<\/span> of these tasks, call the<\/p>\n

Emergency number immediately <\/span><\/p>\n

and describe the symptoms to the<\/p>\n

dispatcher.
\nNOTE: Another ‘ New sign’ of a stroke is<\/p>\n

this: Ask the person to ‘stick’ out his<\/span><\/p>\n

tongue<\/span>. If the tongue is ‘crooked’, if it<\/p>\n

goes to one side or the other, that also<\/p>\n

an indication of a stroke.<\/p>\n
