Law Changes Insurance Coverage

This means that some items that used to be covered by your condominium insurance policy may now be covered by the Meadow Hill master policy.

Under the Common Interest Ownership Act, as of July 1, 2011, all condominium associations must include all betterments (improvements such as sunrooms and kitchen upgrades) in master insurance policies, unless the association opts out of covering specific betterments.

In March several members of the Board attended the Community Association Institute of Connecticut Expo, where opting out was discussed. At the last Board Meeting, the Board confirmed that we  will not opt out of any betterments. This means that some items that used to be covered by your condominium insurance policy may now be covered by the Meadow Hill master policy.
