Hello again
Summer has passed and autumn is starting to slowly set in. We are coming off of one of the driest summers on record. Even with the recent rainfall we are still more than 6 inches in deficit of rain fall. Not conducive to lawns or plant material in general. I have been in the horticultural industry for 20 plus years and I cannot remember such fluctuations in environmental conditions. That being said, the board after much conversation, research and considering my recommendations has decided not to go ahead with any large scale fall seeding. The committee has proposed to conduct some small scale seeding on a case by case basis. Factors include location (shade vs. direct south facing), soil conditions and types of materials needed for success. Based on the past experiences as well as the recent weather this proves to be the best decision horticulturally and budget wise for Meadow Hill. Please be assured that everyone involved, the board, landscape committee, finance exhausted every possible scenario to bring this to fruition. Mother Nature without the help of supplemental watering sources would not cooperate to the extent that it made sense. I have made a presentation to the appropriate committees explaining our process in making the decision. I have been in conversation with the landscape committee and would like to schedule a town hall style meeting where I can present the data to show where we are and where Meadow Hill has the potential to strive to. As usual, if you have any questions please visit me at 9 am on Thursdays at the clubhouse.
I am still in the process of pulling shrubs and talking with unit owners about the process. We have come up with a new system that APM has used in the past. You may see a door hanger on your door with my contact information. This is the new way I will begin to contact you about your landscape. Stay Tuned more to come. We are getting there, Keep Moving Forward!
